Caroline Swanson, Karen Banker, Lauren Kerbelis, Lillie Morris, Gail Smith, Nancy Schultz, Ingrid Hofer, and Frances Wells (not pictured) encourage, support, and practice their combined artistic talents. For 20 years, Women on Paper have met on Wednesday mornings to share ideas, create art, critique one another’s work, and have lunch. While the location changes each week, from Lake Olmstead, to Hopelands Gardens, Bedford Nursery, and even local residents’ gardens, the sisterhood and original four members have remained constant. Through the years, they’ve seen each other through births, deaths, illness and rejection, and have grown as individual artists and as a group, now totaling eight members. “We don’t want to get too big,” Nancy, the group’s founder says. “Then, we couldn’t fit around a lunch table.” Meet the Women on Paper at the Opening Reception for their exhibit at the Aiken Center for the Arts on October 2, 6-8pm.
