With a background in European motor sport photography, Shelly enjoys the pursuit of subjects at speed. Whether it’s horses or dogs in her home of Aiken, the graceful sand hill cranes, blue herons, or her series of mothers with their children from all over the world, Shelly captures the spirit of life with her camera. During trips overseas including destinations like China, Africa, Kauai and Romania, Shelly had always shopped markets and met with local artists and artisans in search of beautiful wares to bring home. Two years ago, Shelly and three friends opened Women’s Echoes Around The World in downtown Aiken and began selling eclectic, bohemian trinkets and treasures from their extensive travels to remote locations in the US and abroad. “There’s a story behind everything sold here,” she says, “we share that story with our customers as they shop, and it’s printed on the tag.”
