A LONG, short trip!

We were invited to my sister-in-law's wedding this past weekend.  We weren't given much notice, so the stress of packing, finding someone to take two rather large dogs, and drive 12 hours one way was exciting to say the least.  We left Augusta, GA at 4:30pm (Eastern time) to meet my sister on the way through Atlanta to arrive at my mother-in-law's just outside of North Little Rock, AR around 3:30am (Central time) Saturday morning.  Saturday morning, that implies that it was light out, which it wasn't, far from it actually.  My poor husband drove most of the way, but you know how some men are! I will drive if I am physically able, which he is, able that is.

We finally get to really sleep, but just for a few hours (3-4), then get up, shower and family starts arriving to catch up before going to the wedding.  Don't you just love showing up to a wedding looking like someone beat you with the ungly stick.  Circles under my eye's that no make up can fix and hair that just won't stay put no matter how many bobby pins are giving you a headache.  Now I love weddings, seeing the bride and groom so full of hope and happiness and this one was no disappointment.  It was gorgeous.  A small wedding, just a few family members witnessed the event, in a bed and breakfast that has been around for a hundred years.  Upon arriving I was put in charge of documenting via photos, all the way from the bride getting ready through the family leaving the bride and groom, as they were staying at the B&B.  We went to my husband's uncle's (my uncle-in-law?) home for a get together after the ceremony.  Tobby, my husband, and I were so tired that we were only there a few hours before almost falling asleep.  Pathetic that at 30 and 32 we could not stay up past 11:30pm on Saturday.  My mother could put Tobby and I to shame! Very sad.

So, after much discussion on who was coming back to the house to sleep and saying many goodbyes, we were going to get a "good night's sleep." Good night, being about 6 hours.  Go to breakfast with my mother-in-law and nephew and then off again on the long trip back.  Pick up the dogs on the way back and arrive back in Augusta at 11:00pm Sunday.

I am very grateful for my family, both sides, but I am also grateful that these LONG short trips come once in a blue moon.  I don't think I could function if they happened more often then that!  Needless to say I am more tired then when I left, but here's hoping that I got some good pictures that will remind me what really happened as I am so tired I can't really recall the details.

On another note, here's wishing the newlyweds a LONG and happy life together.
