The "F" Word Issue: Feminism & Fashion

I once was somewhat of a fashionista. In high school, I don’t think I ever wore the same outfit twice (my poor mother). But, in many ways, I left my fashion sense behind when I went off to college. Partly out of necessity and partly out of desire (I cared way more about getting to happy hour than what I wore to happy hour), vintage t-shirts, flowing skirts, and jeans became my everyday uniform. It was such a welcome change from the catwalk that was high school and much easier on my pocketbook. After college, I handed down most of my wardrobe, but couldn’t part with my favorite tees. It is difficult to work my yellow Cub Scout shirt into an appropriate work outfit. And my maroon Little Whip Fishing Charters tee probably doesn’t look age appropriate even if I dress it up with chandelier earrings. But from time to time, I still wear those shirts and even my oatmeal colored Louisville Bar Association tee that reads “Lawyers Never Lose Their Appeal” (it was super funny when I thought they didn’t, and I still love it now that I know they do!).
